Meeting with the Commissioner for Narcotics on Controlling CBD through Legislation

The government has recently proposed that CBD be placed in the First Schedule of the Dangerous Drugs Ordinance for regulation. CDAC has always been concerned about public health and agrees that CBD does pose health risks to general public. In this regard, CDAC supports the regulation of CBD. However, it is concerned about the possible impact of the government’s proposal to add CBD in the First Schedule of the Dangerous Drugs Ordinance. Invited by the Narcotics Division, we submitted a position paper on the legislation to the Narcotics Commissioner today, expressing our worries and concerns about the legislation as well as making corresponding recommendations. In addition, we also exchanged views with the Commissioner for Narcotics on current drug trends, anti-drug propaganda and drug risks in individual communities. We hope, through our communication with the Commissioner for Narcotics, we are able to promote our health education more effectively.
